Designed by Case Architecture, Inc., Independent Bank Corporation on Bay Road received the Saginaw Charter Township 2009 Businesses of the Year Renovation/Redevelopment Award. In 2006 Independent Bank acquired the former TCF Bank Bay Road location. Renovations began in May 2009 consisting of a complete renovation of both the interior and exterior, an addition of a vestibule entrance, loan office and drive-up ATM, and complete renovation of the landscaping. The bank remained open for business during the renovation with the exception of two days. The project was completed February 2010 with an estimated investment of $718,000.
